Open Kitchen is a culinary business incubator and a network of professionally equipped shared-use commercial kitchens rented to entrepreneurs in the Hudson Valley region who are looking for spaces to prepare their culinary creations and grow their food businesses.

Open Kitchen member spaces are available on a first come first serve basis, with priority given to those who are local/will hire locally in Dutchess County. Kitchen rates are affordable, and hours are flexible. Current Open Kitchen sites include the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory (PUF) in the City of Poughkeepsie, and the River Valley Arts Center (RVAC) in Wappingers Falls. Located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, surrounded by culinary institutions, local farms, food businesses, and diverse cultures, Open Kitchen harnesses our collective love of food to build community pride and connectedness.

    Hudson & Packard got their start making Detroit-style pizza out of the Poughkeepsie Open Kitchen location. After a series of highly successful pop-up restaurants, H&P opened their own storefront on Academy Street. Their pizza has received local and national recognition for their quality

    Berry Bissap brings the popular West African tea Bissap to the US with their own unique twist. They brew and bottle their drinks right at the Underwear Factory and have grown exponentially, with their teas available in multiple retail locations in the Northeast and Southwest regions.

The Poughkeepsie Open Kitchen at the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory is located on the first floor of the factory and offers 3,000 square feet of combined cooking, preparation, and storage space. The space is well suited for caterers, food truck operators, retail or wholesalers, cooking or nutrition instructors, food concept developers, pop-up restaurant space, and more.

  • Seating Area

    The Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory location features a beautiful seating area perfect for pop-up restaurants and dining in. This included both table seating and counter/bar seating facing the kitchen area. This area is ideal for pop-up restaurants, nutritional instruction, and retail sales.

  • Utility and Storage Areas

    The Open Kitchen offers both dry and refrigerated storage for kitchen members. Additionally, the kitchen has a dedicated utility and dishwashing area with cleaning supplies.

The Wappingers Open Kitchen at the River Valley Arts Center (RVAC) is a 433 square foot space licensed for small catering, bakers, culinary classes, and more.

Hudson River Housing is excited to offer this new culinary space through a partnership with the River Valley Arts Center.
