Keeping our youth housed and safe

This Homeless Awareness Month, we're deeply moved by the collective impact of our initiatives—River Haven Youth Shelter, Pete's Place Youth and Young Adult Drop-In Center, and our Transitional Living Community (TLC) for Young Adults—addressing the urgent issue of youth and young adult homelessness.

Year to date, River Haven has provided a vital safe haven for 81 young individuals under the age of 18, offering not just shelter but also a foundation for rebuilding lives. River Haven is Dutchess County's only emergency shelter dedicated to solely serving youth. Pete's Place has extended care management services to 124 youth and young adults under 25, providing a comprehensive support system to navigate the challenges they face.

Advancing our commitment to carve out pathways for youth, TLC has housed 14 young adults under 25 this year, providing stability and a pivotal stepping stone towards independence. These initiatives underscore our unwavering dedication to addressing the distinct challenges encountered by youth and young adults navigating homelessness.

Every statistic represents a narrative—a story of resilience, strength, and the unwavering hope for a brighter future. Through our collective actions, we strive not only to meet immediate needs but to empower these young individuals to overcome adversity and create lasting positive change.

Join us in making a meaningful difference this Homeless Awareness Month. Together, we can continue to support and uplift our youth, ensuring they not only survive but thrive on their journey toward stability and a promising future.
