The Scattered Site Rental Rehab project builds upon the Garden Street Revitalization Project, Phases I and II and our Ten Home Initiative - all funded by New York State's Division of Housing and Community Renewal.

Scattered Site Rental Rehab involves the substantial rehabilitation of five vacant and blighted buildings at four sites to craete 19 rental units.

Two of the sites are immediately adjacent to our Garden Street Revitalization Project and three of the sites are located in our Anchor Based Neighborhood Revitalization target area. The fourth site, 99 Thompson Street, is a short three blocks away.

The units will include 2 studio, 8 one-bedroom, 7 two-bedroom and 2 three-bedroom apartments, made available to households with between 40% and 45% of area median income. The respective rents for these units are 33% and 44% below last year's Fair Market Rents (FMR) (May 2001).

The project directly responds to our local strategies and builds a succession of revitalization efforts. It also leverages the impact and investment already made in the neighborhood. Scattered Site Rental Rehab eliminates blight, preserves existing housing and creates critically needed affordable units for families and individuals in this urban setting.
