How it works: Homeless adults seeking overnight shelter must be screened prior to admission.
Volunteer Opportunities:You can also help by participating in the Adopt-A-Night program, where your group organizes volunteers who are willing to spend an evening at the shelter and provide meals. You select one night per month to provide two volunteers and food. DCCH will help you start up and organize your program. Training will be provided. Each evening, a DCCH staff person screens and transports the guests to the shelter, and oversees the evening's activities. How does it work?
Your help is greatly appreciated! For more information please call (845) 452-5197.
VolunteersThe Dutchess County Coalition for the Homeless (DCCH) overnight shelter operates each evening with two volunteers from the community. The volunteers staff the shelter from 8:30 P.M. until 11:00 P.M., serving dinner and providing conversation and a friendly atmosphere for the guests staying at the shelter. Training is provided. Groups such as churches and civic organizations can also help by participating in the Adopt-A-Night program. Each group picks one night per month to provide volunteers and meals. Assistance can be provided to help your group get started. Contact (845) 452-5197 or complete this information form if you are interested. Thank You.
