Through its seven supported housing programs, Hudson River Housing offers individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness, chronic chemical dependency, and/or other disabling conditions the opportunity to successfully transition out of homelessness or residential care to stable, affordable, permanent housing of their own.
We directly own and manage many of the 55 supported housing apartments that are currently available, and the remainder are leased from local landlords at the fair market rent rate. Participants contribute 30% of their eligible income toward monthly rent, and the remaining amount is subsidized though HRH and our funders.
Supported housing participants are required to actively work on an individualized service plan toward meeting goals that lead to increased self-sufficiency and the ability to maintain stable, permanent housing. Our case managers:

Each program has specific eligibility criteria and its own application process. Waiting lists are not maintained, since openings are infrequent. When a vacancy is anticipated, the Department of Mental Hygiene, homeless housing providers and other referral services are notified.
